What information is in the .FORCES file?

The .FORCES file contains a history of the forces acting on the airfoil as well as the power being added to or extracted from the system.

ITS - Iterations

FLOWIN - Inlet Flow

FLOWOUT - Flow at the Exit

XBPF (Lbf) - Blade surface force due to pressure in the X direction

XBVF (Lbf) - Blade surface force due to viscosity in the X direction

Tq-P (Lb-ft) - Torque on the airfoil due to pressure

Tq-v (Lb-ft) - Torque on the airfoil due to viscosity

ZBPF (Lbf) - Blade surface force due to pressure in the Radial direction

ZBVF (Lbf) - Blade surface force due to viscosity in the Radial direction

POWERin (Hp) - Horse power input (NET-TQ * RPM)

NETXFC (Lbf) - Sum of XBPF and XBVF

NET-Tq (Lb-ft) - Sum of Tq-P and Tq-v

NETZFC (Lbf) - Sum of ZBPF and ZBVF

ENERGYout (Hp) - Enthalpy reduction 

YBPF (Lbf)- Blade surface force due to pressure in the Circumferential direction

TBVF (Lbf)- Blade surface force due to viscosity in the Circumferential direction

NETYFC (Lbf) - Sum of YBPF and TBVF


** For XBPF and XBVF a positive value denotes force in the positive X direction

** For ZBPF and ZBVF a positive value denotes force in the positive radial direction

** For YBPF and TBVF a positive value denotes force in the counter clockwise circumferential direction
